Turmeric(Curcuma longa L.) is a natural herb of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae. It has wide range of medicinal properties. In poultry feed, Turmeric has been extensively used in different concentrations, dosages, and duration. It is non-toxic and ideal feed additive. Turmeric can work as natural alternative to antibiotic growth promoters used in poultry feed to maintain birds’ performance and health. Also, by reducing the use of antibiotics it will reduce the problems of antibiotic resistance and antibiotic residual effects (food safety). Its combination with Garlic (Allicin compounds) enhances its properties.
